The Spa Garage, on Shard Lane, Hambleton, has placed a defibrillator outside their shop and one at Hambleton Village Hall, on Marsh Lane, after collecting £1,700.

Justin Entwistle, managing director of the garage, said: “It was a joint idea between myself and the manageress.

“I’d gone on a first aid course and they told me more defibrillators were needed in the area, so we decided to go ahead with this.

“You hear about stories where people’s lives could have been saved if there had been a defibrillator and now there are two in the village.”

If people need to use the defibrillator they should call 999 and the ambulance service will provide them with a code to remove it from its case.
